On behalf of our client, a well-established international manufacturing group, we are currently seeking an experienced and highly strategic Managing Directorto lead two production companies based in Bulgaria.
Role Overview• This is a senior executive position playing a key role in shaping the strategic direction, financial performance, and operational excellence of the Bulgarian operations, while ensuring full alignment with group objectives and international standards. • As Managing Director, you will assume full commercial and administrative responsibility for the site, acting as a trusted strategic partner to both local management and international stakeholders. • You will oversee all core commercial functions and lead the development, consolidation, and optimization of Shared Services in Bulgaria.Key Responsibilities• Full responsibility for the financial results and performance of the production company. • Oversight of Finance & Accounting, including bookkeeping, financial statements (local GAAP and group standards), controlling, and cash-flow management. • Preparation, monitoring, and steering of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans. • Comprehensive financial and management reporting to the divisional parent company and corporate headquarters. • Acting as the main contact person for banks, auditors, tax advisors, and external partners. • Responsibility for local procurement activities in alignment with divisional and group purchasing strategies. • Supplier management, cost optimization, and ensuring material availability. • Planning, steering, and monitoring of strategic and cross-functional projects at the Bulgarian site. • Close collaboration with project teams at parent plants and international locations. • Oversight of HR processes, including recruitment and payroll. • Responsibility for IT infrastructure performance in cooperation with international IT teams. • Establishment, leadership, and continuous optimization of central service functions such as: Facility Management, Logistics, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) • Standardization and efficiency improvement of internal processes in alignment with group Shared Services concepts.
• University degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification. • At least 7-10 years of leadership experience in a comparable senior role within Finance, Administration, or Corporate Management. • Strong background in a manufacturing and international environment. • Solid knowledge of Bulgarian financial, administrative, and regulatory frameworks. • Fluency in English is mandatory; German language skills are a strong advantage. • Strong analytical skills, strategic mindset, and high numerical affinity. • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. • High level of intercultural competence and ability to operate effectively in a matrix organization. • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership and accountability. • Ability to develop, motivate, and lead teams toward shared strategic goals. • Willingness to travel regularly to parent plants and headquarters.
